Out of the Mouth of Jack
Here's just a few of my favorite things that have come out of Jack's mouth recently:
- "Sticky" - Jack says "sticky" whenever anything a tad bit messy somehow lands on him, be it dinner, lotion, urine, or sand. As of yet, I've been unable to catch the facial expression that accompanies this saying on camera, but I'm not giving up.
- "There's a boy in there, Mama" - This is what Jack says when he catches his reflection in the oven door. To. Die. For.
- "I NEED _____" - fill in the blank. Jack has been saying, "I need it," or "I need this," constantly. Just a few examples:
- "I need this lollipop." (referring to a treat he found before breakfast)
- "I need this Buzz." (referring to any book, moving, clothing, or toy that has anything to do with Toy Story whatsoever)
- I need this car." (referring to a set of Hot Wheels cars lurking at a checkout aisle - mind you, they look exactly like the other 145 Hot Wheels cars we already have at home)

Monday Musings
This weekend was pretty low-key for us, but here are some things swirling about:
-Our amazing baby boy of a little over two years old has taken quite well to potty-training. There is a total of 13 stickers on our potty chart, representing the number of times that Jack has used the potty in the last five days. I am ecstatic, and he is loving his big boy underpants:) Hallelujah! Mommy and Daddy are so proud of you, Jack!

-We are 99% finished with the decorating of our living room and dining room. The last piece of furniture was delivered on Saturday, and aside from needing some artwork above the sofa, the rooms are complete. Check out the before and after!

What do you think?
-In our many trips to the pet store with Daddy, we've discovered that Jack has an affinity for mice. And now he has his own. His very first, true pet. He was so excited to pick out the car that Nemo and Dory would sleep in, and this morning it just about made his day when he realized, in fact, that they do sleep in there!
-This Thursday I think I'll get to see my baby sister try on wedding dresses for the first time. Just thinking about it makes me get all teary-eyed...
-This Friday I get to see Dave Matthews Band at Nationals Park with Kimmee. That's a reason to celebrate all on its own:)
-I finally have a removal date for my braces...I CANNOT wait to have them taken off on September 9th!!!
Hope you had a good weekend - I'm off to pick up the little man from school!

An Evening at the Park
Last night before bath time, Jack and I headed out to the neighborhood park for a little outdoor playtime. Jack LOVES the park, with a capital L. The sun was setting, so the lighting was perfect...or so I think.
All in all, we had a blast. Here's how our conversation went last night when I tucked Jack into bed:
Me: I love you, Buddy. I'll see you in the morning; we had a fun day.
Jack: Fun swings.
I think he approved;)
On the way to the park, I heard the word "swing" no less than 743 times. (Jack's in a phase of repeating himself even when you respond the first time. Lovely.)
Loving the arm dimples:)
Mommy's Little Man
Free and wild at the park!
Jack loves the tunnels

Congratulations, Ryan and John!
This past weekend, my sister got engaged. She and her boyfriend went to Wilmington, North Carolina to visit with some of his family, and while they were there, John took the opportunity to propose to Ryan on the beach.
In an email she sent (yes, an email...can you believe it?), this is what she had to say about it:
"It was the sweetest moment of my ENTIRE life."
I love it. I'm so happy for her. Here are some of the photos that they snapped that night!

Happy (Belated) Birthday, America!
I heart the Fourth of July. I don't remember exactly when it all started, but I do. I really love it. It's my favorite holiday, and I hope that Jack will grow to love it, too.
This was Jack's third, but really, first, Fourth of July, and he had a blast. Brad was convinced that the celebration would be just as nice from the Target parking lot, but I really wanted to take Jack over to Ida Lee, so that's just what we did:) It was so worth it!

It would be a crime for me not to frame this picture (obviously, my favorite)

I WANT this umbrella - it provided an excellent backdrop before another family came to sit between us!

Being tickled by Daddy
All in all, it was a really fun night. Brad and I had a bet about the traffic getting out of the park. He guessed two hours, and I guessed forty-five minutes, but guess what? It only took half an hour for us to get out and head home:) I can't wait to do it all over again next year!
