38 Weeks

(While I'd love to be one of those confident women who rock the bikini while pregnant, I just can't do it. So this is my swimsuit for the time being.  Lovely, I know.)

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 38 weeks
Size of Baby: Baby Girl probably weighs almost seven pounds at this point.
Baby's Developmental Milestones: She's continuing to add on fat that will make those newborn pictures extra adorable with rolls.  She's also shedding some body hair and the waxy covering that's protected her in the womb thus far.
Total Weight Gain: 47 1/2 pounds - I think I'm going to match my weight gain with Jack after all...especially if Baby Girl is on time and/or late.
Movement: She's still squirming, but she must be crowded!
Sleep: I get up almost every night at 4 and then I can usually fall back to sleep until Jack wakes up...nothing like getting ready for those nighttime feedings:)
What I miss: Just being comfortable...
Cravings: Hmm...I've been eating like crazy in the last week.  It's actually pretty comical - which probably has something to do with the weight gain.  I haven't really been that picky, but I'm still loving fruit and sweets.  Together.  Ice cream sundaes with strawberries, bananas, and blueberries, some hot fudge and caramel.  Perfection.
Symptoms: I still can't quite cool off and just this week I've been very hormonal.  Super emotional and easily weepy about my time with just Jack.  Achy joints.
Best Pregnancy Moment this Week: Just getting all of the finishing touches done in the baby's room...I've got everything I think I need, and all I have to do is pack for the hospital.

And because I just love this little man so much...

Today he couldn't decide if he wanted to be "Spectacular Spiderman" or Buzz.  So he just wore both, one right on top of the other!

Our Family of 3.95

While you probably enjoyed the sneak peek from our family photo session last weekend, I figured I'd show you the rest of our photos (at least, the ones we really like) today.  All of these were captured by The Picture People.

Mommy's Favorite

What a ham!

And this just goes to show you that this boy is seriously comfortable in front of a camera now...thanks to a slightly obsessed mom:)

All in a Day's Work

Remember how I mentioned that keeping up with Jack and the adorable things he comes up with is nearly impossible?  Yeah, all of these things I'm about to share with you - they all happened today.  And today was a school day for Jack, so he wasn't even with me all day:)  Just imagine...

*It started like this:

This is exactly how Jack laid out his pajamas after taking them off to put on his swim trunks for Water Day at school.  I was under strict orders to not put them in the hamper because when he got home, he was "going to be Woody."  Does this remind you of anything?!  I'm noticing a pattern.

*After I dropped Jack off at school, I came home and started to put some laundry away.  When I walked into Jack's room, this is what I found:

Now - I was NOT surprised by the tortoise.  We've had the tortoise for a few weeks; his name is Tuck.  Jack really loves Tuck, and he especially loves the fact that he's allowed to touch and hold Tuck occasionally.  But, if you notice Tuck's sand, you'll notice that it appears as though he went sliding or skating.  Maybe you don't know a lot about tortoises, but I can assure you that they DO NOT slide and/or skate.  So someone (I'm not naming any names) must've taken Tuck and slid him through the sand all on his own.  And then kindly placed him on top of his lettuce (you know, so he can eat).  How kind of that someone...

*This evening, Jack and I made a quick stop at the grocery store for some orange juice, milk, and carrot cake (I'll explain the cake later).  Jack loves to ride around in the shopping carts that are also cars, and as he climbed in, he looked back at me and said, "Hey Mama, maybe {insert Baby Girl's name here} can ride in here with me."  I think he really is understanding this whole other person situation he's about to encounter.  Although we did talk about how we'd have to wait for her to get a little bit bigger.  I hope that when she's big enough to ride, Jack will still be small enough to fit in there with her because that will just be the cutest thing in the world.

*After dinner, Jack wanted a piece of carrot cake.  It was his idea to get the cake at the store, which surprised me because he doesn't really like sweets unless it's Oreos, Chips Ahoy, or gummy bears.  But I love carrot cake, and it was only a single layer cake, so I figured we'd give it a go.  Sure enough, he ate nearly an entire piece of carrot cake, and the funniest part was that before he'd take a bit, he'd close his eyes and slowly eat the bite.  Like he was savoring and fully enjoying every last bite - pretty much, the way I eat anything I absolutely love:)  I tried to get the video camera, but I just couldn't move fast enough to catch it.  But trust me when I say - it was absolutely to die for.

*While I was filling up the bathtub and Jack was supposed to be getting undressed and going to the bathroom, this is apparently what he was doing:

*And finally, during our bath tonight, I noticed Jack was repeating some of the lines from One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.  He was filling a cup with water and pretending to put fish inside of it, and he was saying something about wishing for fish.  So, trying to be cool, I said something like, "Are you wishing for fish on your ish wish dish?"  (Straight from the book, mind you - I didn't make it up.)  Do you know what Jack said?  Jack said, "Mommy, it's just a blue cup."  Well, excuse me.

And that's just one day:)  I wonder what tomorrow has in store...

37 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights
How Far Along: 37 weeks (and 1 day)
Size of Baby: If Peanut is about the size of an average newborn, she weighs about 6 1/2 pounds.
Baby's Developmental Milestones: Baby Girl is practicing her breathing skills by inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid.  She's also sucking her thumb, blinking, and rolling from side to side (and I can tell when she does)!
Total Weight Gain: 44 pounds
Movement: Definitely still a wiggle-worm.  Still feeling elbows and knees shift across the belly every day.
Sleep: I'm still sleeping, just not as well.  I roll from one side to the other all night, interrupted by bathroom breaks and the urge to organize in the middle of the night
What I miss: Wearing my wedding rings.  That's right - my fingers are so swollen that I had to pull them off (not an easy task) after the doctor suggested I do it before they may have to cut them off.  The good news is that even though my feet and ankles really hurt, I still don't have cankles:)
Cravings: Lemonade, puff pastries, and mango.
Symptoms: Still having Braxton Hicks contractions and all the other symptoms that go along with being nine months pregnant!
Best Pregnancy Moment this Week: Getting a whole bunch of girly goodies for the baby from Brad's parents and Aunt Jessica - thank you again!  Reaching the full-term point (although, I have to admit, I'm a tad bit confused.  I got an email from the hospital today, and it made it sound like 38 weeks was full term, so who actually knows?).  Having a great doctor's appointment today where I got to hear Peanut's heartbeat and get a little hope that maybe the doctor that delivered Jack will also get to deliver his sister.    I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

A Family-Fun, Full-Term Fourth

In pictures -

Earlier today...

Wading in

Venturing into chilly water

Riding the turtle...

...and loving it!

Love this little boy

Swimming

Water snuggles

Lots of jumping in

Jack had so much fun at the pool

Drying off

And later this evening...

Waiting out the rain in the car

Silly boy

Waiting for the fireworks

It was another wonderful day:)  Baby Girl is now full-term (as of today!), and while this mama was really hoping she'd make her arrival on the 4th of July, Peanut had a different plan.  It appears that she will not share her birthday with America, but that's okay.  Whenever she decides to join us, we'll be thrilled!

Do you hear that Baby Girl?  We're ready when you are!
