When we came home from the wedding and from Great Wolf Lodge, we had to go pick up our puppy dogs.
It was the first time we've ever boarded the dogs somewhere. In the past, we've either taken them with us on our trips, or we've been lucky enough to have them stay with family or friends. But pretty much everyone was traveling to the wedding, Belle can't be trusted (let's just leave it at the fact that a few years ago, Kimmee got a new couch. I brought the puppy dogs over to her house maybe a day or two after said couch arrived, and what seemed like within minutes of our arrival, Belle promptly tinkled A LOT on said couch - I don't take the puppy dogs to friends' houses any more!), and our beach trip with Jack last year was the deciding factor for me that we could no longer travel with the puppy dogs. It's too much.
So after some puppy-boarding research, the dogs ended up on vacation at Dogtopia. I know, I know...but they are family too. I'm pretty sure Belle was in puppy heaven; Gracie, not so much, but none of that is surprising. Buddah also went on vacation, and we decided it would be best (since he has separation anxiety and is otherwise neurotic) that the three dogs should all go, stay, and leave together.
Which meant we had to pick up Buddah when we got home because we were the first ones to return from our trip.
I was a little nervous. Buddah doesn't do too well in the car. Or really in new places. He barks. A lot. And he has a tendency to piddle to mark his territory.
But we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised! He was so excited to see Jack outside of the Dogtopia window - he was jumping up so high I thought he might actually touch the ceiling:) He was way more excited to see us than either of our girls were, in fact! He did very well on the car ride home - he stayed in the passenger seat and only had to be reminded twice that he could not ride on my lap. With the exception of all the drool on my passenger window, it was a smooth trip.
They must have worn the dogs out at Dogtopia because when we got home, he was so tired. He did a little pacing to check out his surroundings, and then promptly snuggled up on the couch. At bedtime, he and Belle decided to switch beds which I thought was just too adorable. See?

Buddah - You are welcome to stay with us anytime because you were such a good boy!
