A Sleepover

When we came home from the wedding and from Great Wolf Lodge, we had to go pick up our puppy dogs.

It was the first time we've ever boarded the dogs somewhere.  In the past, we've either taken them with us on our trips, or we've been lucky enough to have them stay with family or friends.  But pretty much everyone was traveling to the wedding, Belle can't be trusted (let's just leave it at the fact that a few years ago, Kimmee got a new couch.  I brought the puppy dogs over to her house maybe a day or two after said couch arrived, and what seemed like within minutes of our arrival, Belle promptly tinkled A LOT on said couch - I don't take the puppy dogs to friends' houses any more!), and our beach trip with Jack last year was the deciding factor for me that we could no longer travel with the puppy dogs.  It's too much.

So after some puppy-boarding research, the dogs ended up on vacation at Dogtopia.  I know, I know...but they are family too.  I'm pretty sure Belle was in puppy heaven; Gracie, not so much, but none of that is surprising.  Buddah also went on vacation, and we decided it would be best (since he has separation anxiety and is otherwise neurotic) that the three dogs should all go, stay, and leave together.

Which meant we had to pick up Buddah when we got home because we were the first ones to return from our trip.

I was a little nervous.  Buddah doesn't do too well in the car.  Or really in new places.  He barks.  A lot.  And he has a tendency to piddle to mark his territory.

But we couldn't have been more pleasantly surprised!  He was so excited to see Jack outside of the Dogtopia window - he was jumping up so high I thought he might actually touch the ceiling:)  He was way more excited to see us than either of our girls were, in fact!  He did very well on the car ride home - he stayed in the passenger seat and only had to be reminded twice that he could not ride on my lap.  With the exception of all the drool on my passenger window, it was a smooth trip.

They must have worn the dogs out at Dogtopia because when we got home, he was so tired.  He did a little pacing to check out his surroundings, and then promptly snuggled up on the couch.  At bedtime, he and Belle decided to switch beds which I thought was just too adorable.  See?

Wordless Wednesday

{oh. my. word.}

Sibling Snuggles

The past few mornings, Jack has wanted to go into Hannah's room with me to wake her up.  It's the sweetest thing ever.

It takes her a little while to open her eyes, but she still smiles at you right away.  Then I've let Jack get in the crib with her and give her hugs and kisses.

It might be a new favorite part of my day.

Seriously.  The two of them together - is that not the cutest thing you've ever seen?

Going to the Lodge...

...Great Wolf Lodge.  If you've never been, you should seriously go.  We're in love, and we're definitely going back.  And no, no one is paying me to say that:)

The place was amazing.  Beautifully decorated and clean, and there's so much for everyone to do.  We arrived the Monday after my sister's wedding and left Tuesday around lunch time, but during our short stay, we enjoyed the water park, dinner, story time, the arcade, the whirlpool, and then breakfast.  Jack had such a good time, and we were thrilled we could all have so much fun without having to leave the place even once.

See for yourself!

Toes in the Sand

While we were in the Outer Banks for Ryan's wedding, we took the chance to take our little lovelies to the beach a few times.  The first time we headed out, I brought down all of our gear and the tripod with hopes to take some great pictures, but it didn't go nearly as well as I had planned.  It was a little windy, and Jack was very worried that our things were going to blow away and wouldn't venture off of his spot on the blanket.  He sat there, holding on to as many things as he could to prevent them from blowing into the ocean.  He was not a happy camper:(  Hannah did okay, but she wanted to nap, and I was worried about keeping her in the shade so she wouldn't get a sunburn ~ she's got fair skin like her mama.  Daddy and I decided to declare that trip a loss, and we packed up and headed back to the hotel room to get ready for Ryan's rehearsal.  Here are the very few shots I got that afternoon:

Ready to "go home" - Jack was the first one to the stairs by many yards:)

The day after the wedding, we decided to try again.  It wasn't as windy, and it was later in the day after naptime, so we were hoping for happy babies.  It went much better, but we still couldn't get Jack's toes in the water.  It was hard to even get his back to the water for pictures to be honest...hopefully, that's a phase he'll grow out of.  At least we were able to get some pretty cute shots!

Today, I'm missing those warmer temperatures and having my toes in the sand!  I can't believe Halloween is next week.
